"Over the Top" jacket, from lululemon, $118

"Over the Top" jacket, shown here in black.

Today, I found a jacket I loved at lululemon. I’ve been searching for non-hoodie outerwear, haven’t I? I love asymmetrical, yes? And I’ve already established that I love charcoal grey. You know I hate buttons but love zippers. I like jersey. And what do you know, it’s slimming too! I love the jacket. I love the idea of this jacket on me. Now the question is, do I actually love this jacket on me? Because if I did, I wouldn’t mind shelling out the $118 for it.

I tried it on.

I almost loved it. It was so close. I’ll probably think about it for the next couple of weeks. For something like outerwear where I know I will wear it over and over again I don’t mind the lulu price points. The question is how much I’ll think about it in the coming days.

For “shirts” however, I think that I will definitely have to pass and go to Target or somewhere cheaper. Here are a couple I tried on.

"Salutation Tank." What?

"Salutation Tank" for $52. Wait. What?

My baby has the right idea here. Laugh it up. The purpose of this design is so that, and I quote, “this tank will take you from your workout to a night out!” You can take that strap off, too. What do you think of that? Really? After you’re all sweaty and stuff? It’s a nice idea. Probably not practical. Unless your dude likes the smell of sweat.

One of my favorite combinations: pink/black!

This is a little bit underwear/lingerie like isn’t it. It’s all one piece but the black part looks like there’s a peek a boo bra thing going on here. If it wasn’t so undie looking it may have had a chance.

The search continues…

A bunch of not so well dressed women.

A bunch of not so well dressed women.

This weekend I participated in the Iron Girl 5k walk (well, 5k or 10k run or walk, you could choose your own adventure). This was my first organized athletic event and I was very excited. I even bought a running skort so that I would… I mean I wouldn’t (the jury’s still out on this) look too stupid. I came in 840th out of 1,227 in my category which isn’t bad, but not that great either. But now I’m addicted. Free T-Shirt (which I will only wear for sport, Robin!), 8 million sample sized Luna Bars, free bottle of water, weird sporty energy drinks, sponge, plush Aflac duck that yells “AFLAC!” I like it. I immediately signed up for another one coming up in two weeks.

Now the question: How do I look cuter?

Running skort from Target, free Iron Girl T-Shirt, basically brand new Saucony running shoes.

Running skort from Target, free Iron Girl T-Shirt, basically brand new Saucony running shoes and free socks that came with purchase. I'm carrying my leSportsac camera case with my phone, ipod, camera, keys, ID and cash stuffed in it.

I know. I really should have worn my hair in a pony tail or worn a visor or something. My hair here is doing some really weird flippy mullet thing. I’ve decided that for each successive “athletic event” that I participate in I am going to allow myself to purchase a fashionable sport item. I think for the next one I may buy myself a cute sports bra. Am I not a serious athlete if I’m concerned about these things?

Not a look I aspire to. Looks too much like underwear or too obvious about showing off.

You should also have fun, right?

I want to keep my sense of fun too but maybe not this fun.

I would like to figure out a way to carry my things without resorting to the backpack look here.

Or like the lady on the right, carrying the free bag like she's going to the grocery store. These are casual walkers. My goal is to become at least a casual runner.

Or these girls... wait, this was from the Def Leppard concert. Nevermind.

If all goes well I should be looking cuter and cuter as I participate in more events.

Stay tuned!
