Today, I found a jacket I loved at lululemon. I’ve been searching for non-hoodie outerwear, haven’t I? I love asymmetrical, yes? And I’ve already established that I love charcoal grey. You know I hate buttons but love zippers. I like jersey. And what do you know, it’s slimming too! I love the jacket. I love the idea of this jacket on me. Now the question is, do I actually love this jacket on me? Because if I did, I wouldn’t mind shelling out the $118 for it.
I tried it on.
GROAN
I almost loved it. It was so close. I’ll probably think about it for the next couple of weeks. For something like outerwear where I know I will wear it over and over again I don’t mind the lulu price points. The question is how much I’ll think about it in the coming days.
For “shirts” however, I think that I will definitely have to pass and go to Target or somewhere cheaper. Here are a couple I tried on.
My baby has the right idea here. Laugh it up. The purpose of this design is so that, and I quote, “this tank will take you from your workout to a night out!” You can take that strap off, too. What do you think of that? Really? After you’re all sweaty and stuff? It’s a nice idea. Probably not practical. Unless your dude likes the smell of sweat.
This is a little bit underwear/lingerie like isn’t it. It’s all one piece but the black part looks like there’s a peek a boo bra thing going on here. If it wasn’t so undie looking it may have had a chance.
The search continues…
I find that Lululemon’s lycra stuff pills something awful, which didn’t thrill me after I shelled out a goodly amount for a running hoodie from them a while back.
I have had better success with their woven stuff (like shorts) and I love my yoga mat and gym bag from there.
Have you been to Super Jock n Jill yet?
Oh thanks for the tip! I’ve seen so many people wearing lulu and carrying around those bags and wondered if I was missing anything. But since they are pretty expensive I didn’t want to try anything unless it was super on sale or I loved it.
I went by Super Jock n Jill last night with laurgs. It’s pretty small but I did see a cute sleeveless pink shirt. We also went to… I forgot what it’s called but the one on the same block as Title 9. Always Running? Runson Runberry? There are possibilities. As with the skort though I want to test out some cheaper stuff first. For instance I got some athletic socks in the children’s section at Fred Meyer yesterday. Because the expensive socks are so expensive.
I was going to say, before I saw your caption, that you reminded me of Emma Peel in the middle jacket pic ! I think you might
make a killer 60’s Emma Peel – type character for some halloween! You have the perfect hair and figure for it !
I kind of like the ‘monk’ version of it, but is it comfortable?
oh it is so comfortable. it’s thick and structured enough that even though it’s form fitting i feel pretty good in it. the only “problem” would be that my frame may be too small to carry this off because it’s got a lot going on (sleeve ends are a bit flary and long too).
i like that the picture of me in the header above cause my hair kind of looked like “miss parker” from the pretenders, who everyone said was reminiscent of emma peel anyway.
Love Lulu because their pants are LONG…
Yeah, maybe a taller frame would be better for that jacket, which is exactly the sort of silhouette I go for.
DM, you have an incredible bust-to-waist ratio, like in a fairy tale. Wow. I’m impressed.
thank you. but i too must confess to sucking it way in
wow! you are a sexy mama! 🙂
uh oh. bunny kravitz?
Your boob looks big…
That was not me, don’tk now if it was bunny.
That jacket is gorgeous but I might be constraining in the bust, and I agree it might be overwhelming on your frame. We can’t all try to dress like JvA no matter how badly we want to. For $118 it does need to be perfectly — thrillingly, “I can’t wait to wear my jacket today” kind of perfect. Actually we should aim for that perfection in $18 purchases too, shouldn’t we?
If you’re just looking for running-function stuff you might have luck at Target or Fred Meyer (they have Columbia Sportswear). But the more I shop at “better” stores, the more I see wrong with Target, seriously. Also the Lands End and LL Bean catalogues have good sturdy cotton athletic wear in different sizes.
So here is the thing. I love lululemon, but refuse to pay the price. They have an outlet in Burlington. It is a 45 minute drive, but well worth the savings. Lulu pants for $39, workout tanks $19, my husbands fabulous jacket (regularly $189 for $59). I love the jacket you tried on. It is not a normal, run-of-the-mill jacket so I would guess that it will end up at the outlet by the end of the season. Go. You will be happy.
