Wearing for the weekend

I’ve started taking pictures of what I wear each day.  I figure this will generate some blog content, and boy is it a good way to double-check whether you’re wearing something you really want to be seen in.  Also, sometimes people find out you have a fashion blog and they’re all “oh no you’d probably hate what I wear, I’m such a slob!” No dudes, we’re all just trying to make an effort here.  This is my honest recap.

This was a regular old warm-weekend — notable only because it was warm, I got out of the house more (and therefore wore more clothes) than I usually do, and that I took pictures of it.  For the record, here’s how it turned out.
Casual Friday: Brown jersey dress with cerise-and-white geometrica flowers and apple-green camisole; Berry cardigan; Kate Spade Purple pumps. Baby in Gymboree with Off-brand Crocs.

Friday date night: BCBG top, Classiques skirt (suit separate), Bandolino slingbacks. Kate Spade earrings and some crafty-store blue stone necklace. The closeup was taken at the end of the evening thus being particularly goofy.

Saturday: Farmers Market. White shirred tee (Costco) with skirt (Target?)? No. Brown scoopneck (Lands End) with skirt? No. The skirt is a problem -- I knew this when I bought it. I settled on the brown tee and Gap denim shorts.

Saturday: Girls' Night at the movies (Extract with Jason Bateman). Bead necklace, brown tee, jeans, Clarks Indigo shoes.

Saturday Night: headed to the movies with my sister (Extract with Jason Bateman). Bead necklace, brown tee, jeans, Clarks Indigo shoes.

Left: home from the poole in an Ann Taylor Loft sundress and Alfani Petunia flip-flops. Right: heading to get groceries in Wisteria-colored Caslon tee, Dockers capris (these are drawstring-hem but I cuffed them, which is more "current" and also a better length for me).
Sunday: To the pool in an Ann Taylor Loft sundress over my swimsuit and Alfani Petunia flip-flops (left); heading to get groceries in Wisteria-colored Caslon tee, Dockers capris (these are drawstring-hem but I cuffed them, which is more “current” and also a better length for me) and floral-embroidered flats.

Note that my Date Night skirt now has a big grease stain — my daughter was so upset to have a babysitter that she cried on my lap until she regurgitated hamburger all over my skirt (and then ate it back up — not kidding!) And no, I’m not moving that vacuum out of the living room until someone cleans up the toys and uses it to vaccum.

Back to work!

TGIM! Cute Shirt Day

This the same “Amazon” print my sister wore to our cousin’s wedding in pewter and pearl – just found it in a top!

This the same “Amazon” print my sister wore to our cousin’s wedding in pewter and pearl – just found it in a top!

Good Monday Morning. Today I am recovering from camping, ran late because I made a huge mess trying to chop and marinate chicken for tonight’s stir-fry, my son forgot his lunch, and in digging around in my purse for my lost Blackberry I found the daycare check that I thought I had dropped off last week. Oops. Life is good because I am wearing a cute shirt (not the one at left).  I do not have a picture of it, but it’s a brilliant plum-colored BCBG top with shirred sleeves and delicate tuxedo-style pleats and buttons on the front. Yes, that sounds kind of ugly, which is why I wanted a picture; but trust me, it’s cute, and best of all it is a “t-shirt in disguise” which how comfy is that.

I got it at the 2008 Nordstrom Anniversary sale which means you could probably find it at the Nordstrom Rack for $9.99 right now. It also means there are no pictures of it because it’s from the 2008 BCBG Max Azria collection. The good news for all of us is, in searching online for pictures of my shirt I found lots of other cute BCBG shirts.  Bluefly.com has good deals – didn’t someone here mention that recently?  Also, if you know what you’re looking for (or you’re crushing on BCBG and know your size: eBay.)

BCBG knit top. I have this in pink. Last time I wore it around my Grandma, she said “look how thin little Robin is! When did she get so tiny!” She is kind of forgetful, but I love her dearly, especially when she repeats “tiny little Robin!” over and over because she forgets she already said that.

Not for me, need sturdier straps to batten down the bosoms. Hey, if my chest shrivels up when my daughter finally weans from the “Mommy Side Milk,” I can console myself with flimsy halter tops. Isn’t it pretty? Very Mary Louise Parker in Weeds.

Of course it’s too young for me, but I’m on track for a midlife crisis in the next three years and this would fit right in.

TGIM, everyone! Let me know what you’re wearing today.

Since I am the co-host, I can just post it right in here. This morning as I read this entry I looked down and saw that I was wearing a black Michael Stars T-shirt with gathery scoopneck detail. Before you get all impressed you might want to know that it was purchased at a maternity store. Michael Stars tends to run small so this is still ok to wear as normal wear, I think. I had a business meeting this afternoon so I took a shower and changed into the exact same shirt but this time in pink.

this would count as an acceptable cute shirt, no? if you didn't know it was maternity you couldn't guess. all other angles of this shirt looked like i was pushing out my breasts so this is the best you're going to get.
